Acculturation Sessions: SCMS launches new innovation in its onboarding/induction strategy
The School of Communications & Media Studies (SCMS) has released the full programme for its 2026 Acculturation Sessions — a structured, multi-day academic immersion designed to formally usher new scholars into the institution’s culture, philosophy, and performance standards. According to the Acculturation handbook and session schedule, the programme evolved from a former one-day onboarding exercise into a comprehensive week-long (and extended) induction experience, following the school’s realization that deeper cultural alignment and academic clarity were required for student success.
SCMS 2026 Acculturation Schedulåessions now focus not only on introducing the institution, but on embedding SCMS values, expectations, learning systems, and professional conduct into every new intake. The 2026 Acculturation Sessions commence on February 6, 2026, beginning with Know Your College (KYC) — a foundational session exploring the history and vision of SCMS. This is followed by a deep dive into the school’s philosophy and mantra, faculty meet-and-greet engagements, and a detailed walk-through of the 2026 Course Catalogue and academic calendar. Midway through the programme, scholars are introduced to Nexus, SCMS’s learning management backbone, alongside comprehensive briefings on the school’s evaluation policies, including continuous assessments, assignments, class discourse, grading benchmarks, and performance measurement systems. These sessions are aimed at ensuring transparency and academic preparedness from the onset of the academic year.
The Acculturation series continues through February 15, 2026, with critical discussions on engagement protocols, communication structures, student relations, and governance — outlining how scholars are expected to interact within the SCMS academic community. Additional sessions later in the programme also cover administrative documentation, compliance processes, and alumni testimonials, providing students with a holistic view of academic life at the institution
SCMS 2026 Acculturation Schedule
SCMS has emphasized that attendance at all Acculturation Sessions is compulsory for students, faculty, and advisers, with each session running for a maximum of two hours and attendance taken at the end of every meeting. The institution views the programme as the official launch of the academic year and a critical step in shaping disciplined, informed, and industry-ready scholars. With its expanded scope and structured delivery, the 2026 Acculturation Sessions reaffirm SCMS’s commitment to building not just academic excellence, but a strong institutional culture rooted in purpose, professionalism, and leadership development.
