Executive Masters Programme

The Executive Masters Programmes of the School of Communications & Media Studies, LLBSUK, are designed to develop advanced academic, strategic, and leadership competencies in communication and media practice. The Masters curricula emphasise strategic thinking, digital fluency, ethical judgment, and interdisciplinary problem-solving—qualities essential for navigating today’s rapidly evolving media and technology-driven environment. Each programme combines theoretical instruction with experiential learning, case studies, and consultancy-based projects that bridge classroom learning with real-world communication challenges.

The School currently offers two specialized Executive Masters pathways:

  1. Master’s in Applied Strategic Communications – This programme is designed for professionals and graduates seeking to deepen their expertise in strategic communication planning, advocacy, and campaign management. It explores the intersection of communication, policy, and leadership—emphasizing research-driven strategies for public, corporate, and development sectors. Students engage with topics such as strategic narrative design, behavioral communication, political and corporate messaging, crisis management, and stakeholder engagement. The programme blends academic rigor with applied practice, preparing graduates to assume leadership and consultancy roles in communication strategy, media relations, and organisational development.

Programme Director’s Profile

Dr. John Nkamiang, PhD is a Nigerian broadcast-media and strategic communications professional with deep experience across TV and radio hosting, newsroom leadership, sports broadcasting, and platform development. He is a Senior faculty with the School of Communications & Media Studies (LLBSUK) functions as the Programme Director of the Master’s Programme following the completion of his doctorate in Strategic Management, Leadership Development & Business Administration.

Across industry and academia, Dr. Nkamiang is known for blending media operations, sports business development, and strategic communications advisory. Dr. Nkamiang has garnered extensive  professional experiences from several Media organisations, mostly in a senior sports leadership/business-development role, while other references document earlier broadcast management and station leadership. He also contributes thought leadership on leadership, governance, and strategic messaging through articles and speaking engagements, positioning him as a practitioner-scholar focused on building high-performing media and communications systems.

Each Master’s programme is delivered through a flexible blend of lectures, seminars, practical workshops, and research projects. Duration

Our PGD programmes at SCMS LLBSUK is designed as an accelerated sandwich format, using the standard UK requirement, it’s usually 1 year, but squeezed into an intensive 9-month period- targeted to cater to busy, working professionals.

Evaluation

According to SCMS’s Standard Evaluation Policy for PGD programmes include – Attendance, Assignments, Examinations, Presentations, Deans Assessments, HOD’s Assessments and Journal/Article Writing & Publishing

Teaching format

Our format is flexible, immersive, and professionally relevant, combining instructor-led lectures, case-based discussions, practical workshops, and guided project work. Strong emphasis on interaction, real-world application, and continuous academic and professional engagement.

Session Schedule

Classes are typically held on designated weekdays and/or weekends to accommodate working professionals. A detailed timetable is released ahead of each academic term, outlining lecture times, practical sessions, assessments, and faculty consultation periods.
