Post Graduate Diploma Programme

The Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) Programmes of the School of Communications & Media Studies, LLBSUK, are structured to equip students and professionals with advanced conceptual and practical knowledge in the strategic fields of communication and media management. Designed for graduates from diverse academic backgrounds, these programmes provide the intellectual and professional foundation needed to transition into or advance within the communications and media industries.

At the heart of the PGD curriculum is LLBSUK’s commitment to producing communication professionals who can think critically, act ethically, and communicate strategically in a complex information age. The programmes integrate theory, practice, and consultancy-based learning, encouraging students to apply communication principles to real organizational challenges.

Programme Director’s Profile

Dr. Kenneth Ogbunehu (often known in media circles as RevKen) is a Nigerian broadcast journalist and media professional with significant experience as a radio presenter, news caster, and broadcast coach. He has served as Head of Station and on-air personality (OAP) at Mixx FM Uyo (#TheMorningMixx), where he is recognized for his work in news delivery and audience engagement. His public presence also extends to roles as a voice-over artist, broadcast trainer, and media consultant, establishing him as a versatile voice and mentor within the Nigerian broadcast sector.

In addition to his on-air career, Dr. Ogbunehu holds leadership responsibilities within professional broadcast management governance. He is listed as Regional Secretary (South-South) for the National Guild of Private Broadcast Managers of Nigeria, reflecting his standing in media leadership and industry development. His engagement across presentation, coaching, and broadcast organisational roles underscores a career committed to strengthening media standards, talent development, and strategic communication within Nigeria’s dynamic broadcast landscape.

Programme Information

Each PGD pathway runs over an intensive academic session, combining lectures, workshops, case studies, and scenario-based evaluations. Students also participate in consultancy simulations, virtual internships, and research projects and paper presentations that strengthen professional competence and real-world insight. Graduates of the programme are well-prepared to progress to master’s studies or to assume strategic advisory roles in corporate, public sector, and media organizations.

Duration

Our PGD programmes at SCMS LLBSUK is designed as an accelerated sandwich format, using the standard UK requirement, it’s usually 1 year, but squeezed into an intensive 9-month period- targeted to cater to busy, working professionals.

Evaluation

According to SCMS’s Standard Evaluation Policy for PGD programmes include – Attendance, Assignments, Examinations, Presentations, Deans Assessments, HOD’s Assessments and Journal/Article Writing & Publishing

Teaching format

Our format is flexible, immersive, and professionally relevant, combining instructor-led lectures, case-based discussions, practical workshops, and guided project work. Strong emphasis on interaction, real-world application, and continuous academic and professional engagement.

Session Schedule

Classes are typically held on designated weekdays and/or weekends to accommodate working professionals. A detailed timetable is released ahead of each academic term, outlining lecture times, practical sessions, assessments, and faculty consultation periods.
