Masters in Applied Strategic Communications

The Master’s in Applied Strategic Communications (MASC) is a high-level professional and academic programme designed to develop leaders, consultants, and senior communication strategists who can operate effectively at the intersection of communication, policy, leadership, media, and public influence. The programme is built for professionals who seek to move beyond tactical communication into strategic advisory, institutional leadership, and large-scale campaign management across corporate, government, political, and development sectors.

At its core, the MASC programme explores how communication shapes power, public opinion, corporate reputation, social movements, and governance. Students are trained to design and manage research-driven communication strategies that influence behaviour, manage crises, shape narratives, and build trust in complex environments. The curriculum integrates strategic narrative design, behavioural communication, political and corporate messaging, public relations leadership, stakeholder engagement, crisis and reputation management, and media diplomacy, ensuring graduates are equipped to operate at decision-making and policy-shaping levels.

Programme benefits

Students do not merely study communication theories; they learn how to apply them to real-world problems. Through advanced case studies, scenario simulations, policy communication labs, and consulting projects, participants develop the ability to assess communication challenges, map stakeholder interests, design intervention strategies, and advise leadership on reputational, political, and public engagement risks.

Who is this programme ideal for?

This makes the programme especially suited for professionals working in government, international development, NGOs, corporate leadership, advocacy, political communication, and media management. Graduates of the Master’s in Applied Strategic Communications emerge as strategic thinkers, institutional communicators, and trusted advisers to leadership. They are prepared for senior roles such as Strategic Communications Director, Policy and Advocacy Lead, Corporate Affairs Manager, Media and Reputation Consultant, Political Communication Strategist, and Development Communication Specialist.
