Following initial work undertaken in 2006, LogiChem (www.logichemeurope.com) was given a mandate by delegates at the 2007 event to progress its efforts and establish a new supply chain benchmarking framework for the chemical industry.

The conference organisers WBR and the LogiChem Advisory Board responded to this need and on the 23rd of October 2007 ran a workshop with twelve additional chemical supply chain practitioners to agree and finalise a set of common performance measurement indicators and clearly defined chemical industry segments.

In the run-up to LogiChem 2008, taking place in Düsseldorf on 14-16 April 2008, we are inviting chemical companies to submit data on 8 key performance measurements featured on this website.

The results in the form of analysis and feedback will be presented at the LogiChem 2008

conference, to provide you with a snapshot of how well your supply chain is performing in certain critical areas. Those not attending the conference but providing data will receive a free copy of the report.

Full confidentiality is of course assured, and the exercise is compliant with EU competition law guidelines. For more details on this <click here>.

Why Another Benchmarking Framework?

Feedback from the chemical industry suggests that there are concerns over the existing benchmarking frameworks in place, particularly over the meaningfulness of data, and the amount of time and resources that are required to gather data for these projects.

The aim of this new initiative is to build an alternative framework that achieves two fundamental purposes:

1.

Allows effective and meaningful benchmarking using common measures and definitions across different chemical industry segments.
2. Is easy to use on an annual basis, with little time or resource required, as well as no financial investment.

WBR and the LogiChem Advisory Board are pleased that they have been able to secure the collaboration of Accenture. Accenture already provides a more comprehensive and detailed benchmarking framework (www.scmstudies.com) for companies who wish to take their benchmarking a step further.
